CHARISMA FLOATS & DESIGNS PRESENTS

82nd ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDS FLORAL

For the 17th consecutive year, Charisma Floats & Designs will present the extraordinary floral display of more than 75,000 blooms adorning the Kodak Theater located at the Hollywood Highland Complex for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards show. "We are proud to be part of Hollywood's biggest event of the year," said Matt Rodriguez, co-owner of Charisma Floats & Designs.

Charisma’s Floral Director, Richard Salavaggio, stated, “This year it is all about color.  Gold is one of the color themes that we are using to accent the event and give the evening its splendor”. The flowers being used this year include a variety of locally grown flowers such as Bells of Ireland, Goldenrod, Forsythia, Lilies, Hydrangea, Protea, and Ranunculus, as well as imported roses and exotics such as Anthurium, Cymbidium and Dendrobium Orchids.

The city-block long famed Red Carpet will include 2,000 locally grown blooming plants. Groupings of floral designs from 2-feet to 12-feet tall will enhance the walk along the Red Carpet to the entrance of the Kodak Theater. Exotic arrangements will be placed in the celebrity dressing rooms and large floral presentations will enhance the Artist Entrance, Winner’s Walk, and the Press Rooms.

“We’re proud to put together a talented team this year featuring award-winning floral designers from all over the country, and the United Kingdom. States represented include Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Utah, Washington D.C., Wisconsin, and finally the United Kingdom,” stated Katie Rodriguez, co-owner of Charisma Floats & Designs with her husband, Matt Rodriguez.

Charisma Floats & Designs is an award-winning builder of parade floats for the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California and the Fiesta Bowl Parade in Phoenix, Arizona in addition to their work on the annual Academy Awards show. The schedule for “dressing” the Kodak Theater for the Academy Awards this year is as follows:

• Tuesday, March 2: Flowers arrived at the Kodak Theater at 9:00 a.m. for processing and designing at the Charisma location of the Oscar Compound on Hollywood Boulevard,
• Wednesday, March 3 to Sunday, March 7: All production to be completed for the weekend,
• All arrangements to be installed in and around the Red Carpet Walkway, Awards Walk, Pre- Show Areas, Theater Entrances, Artist Entrance, Winner’s Walk, Press Rooms, Dressing Rooms and VIP areas.
